Teachers and Study Program
Geshe Kalsang Namgyal is the Abbot of the nunnery. He is from Gaden Jangste Monastery. We have nine teachers from all the monasteries, including the Abbot, philosophy teachers from Gaden Shartse and Drepung Loseling, and grammar and poetry teachers from Drepung Gomang. One of the teachers instructs advanced students in English grammar. Two of the senior nuns teach philosophy and English to the junior nuns.
Philosophy is one of the main subjects; the nuns also study Pramana (logic), Prajnaparamita (Perfection of Wisdom), Madhyamika (Middle Way), Abhidhama (Treasure of Knowledge) and Vinaya (Monastic discipline). The nuns receive a certificate upon completion of each of the main texts.
